Debit Card and Credit Card fraud is at an all time high. In the past year alone, there have been record numbers of breaches and attempts to steal card information. Bell Credit Union has revised the fraud protection plan in light of these breaches. Alongside our card processor, we have implemented better and quicker notification to our members. This means that members may receive text messages to verify card transactions. These texts will not ask for anything other than for you to verify the purchase with a "yes" or "no" response. If you are unsure, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Another change we have made, is that any purchase made outside of the United States is automatically unauthorized unless the member calls us before the purchase is attempted. This includes online purchases. We are able to temporarily unblock these holds so that the purchase can be allowed. If you are traveling, we can authorize several days of card use.
